Hi
Im afraid that I had difficulty unzipping the Caswell file and wonder if I
might be sent a copy again ?
I am very interested in the Caswell family from Gloucestershire particularly
Bitton as I have one descent from Alice Caswell who married Francis Haynes
of Hanham near Bitton December 25 1825 St James Bristol. My nephews have two
descents as my s in L is also a Caswell descendant. Richard Caswell of the
Bitton area married Sarah who was born in Middx UK.Their daughter Hester
Caswell married George Winkworth and so on down to my S in L.
I imagine that there is some connection between my Caswells and those of
Francis Caswell.

BINGO!!!!!!
I hunted around in my database for a while, looking for your 1st entry
Francis Caswell - nothing!
Then I looked closely at the names of Franis' grand kids. Alarm bells
went
off!
Hester, Richard, Wm etc. All names I was very familar with, in one family
too.
Then, just by luck, I checked all my Francis'. AND there he was - a
CASSWELL - the earlier spelling . b 20 May 1739 in Rowde, Wilts.
Now, please bear in mind that I have a HUGE database on Wiltshire
Caswells,
and I've picked the Wiltshire Records Office CLEAN of data, and
placed it
all into my database. If it 'ain't there - it ain't there'! There
aren't
many Francis Caswells any where in the UK, so this HAS to be the right
one.
You may want to start poking around and getting copies of Frank & Betty's
wedding cert & Wm & Margarets. There are probably wills in the Glos
Records
office. This family was WEALTHY.
I am quite content that he's our man, and have added your database to
mine.
Now, your Caswell line goes back to the 13th century

Hi Mike,
Thanks for replying.
I am attaching the Caswell gedcom.
I am sure you have found that it is not easy researching the area of
Somerset and parts of Gloucester. If you can add any details I would be
most
grateful. Also any comments ( even
negative) would be most welcome.
Some interesting bits of info. hidden in the notes.
Prison details for the Densleys and some job titles.
Headers of pins, apparently done at home.Could be deadly in the long run
due
to working over a crucible of noxious fumes.
Also there was a pin factory in the area.
Most of the early ones were coal miners. However the later members in this
area (Ebbw Vale) did quite well for themselves. Some had a large haulage
business. Another a Garage. Another large coal rounds with many delivery
lorries.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
Best wishes Roy

Roy
I saw your posting on Ancestry.
I'd love a gedcom of your research on your Caswell line. I have most of
the
Caswell trees around the world, and I'm trying to join them all
together.
Thanks
