My name is Laura Hunter, I am researching Zebina Morris Caswell, born 1811
in Exeter County, New York as per his civil war record.
Laura
Nancy,
Here is a copy of an e-mail I got from David Blackwell, with links to his
new webpages..
Judie Ann
Hello Judie,
Yes the website has changed.
The genweb.net machine has disappeared so I've moved to
http://www.usigs.org/library/books/books.htmlhttp://www.usigs.org/library/books/buk.shtmlhttp://www.usigs.org/library/books/http://www.usigs.org/library/books/uk/
I finally finished scanning the Lichfield Wills book (an index of early
wills at Lichfield),
and Derbyshire Charters by Jeayes.
So it makes a nice Derbyshire library online with Tilly's 4 volume Old
Halls and Manors
Volume 2 of Cox's Derbyshire Churches, volume 1 and 5 of Yeatman's
Derbyshire Collection, and
Victoria County History of Derbyshire, etc.
I have not put my Blackwell genealogy back on line yet, no time.
Your Stafford, Savage, Eyre, Blackwell article and wills are VERY
interesting.
I had not seen the DAS 1908 article, though I had seen it referred to.
Best Regards,
David Blackwell

I thought you would like to hear about the memorial service that was held on
Sunday.
----Original Message Follows----

The memorial service was very special. The church was packed and
overflowing -- estimated 600 people paid respect with seats in the aisle,
standing along the walls, seats and standing in the foyer. There were
many of Jean H. C.'s and Jean M. C.'s relatives present, Caswell's from
California, Dwight and Phil Caswell and also Nancy and Harold Schell, as
well as colleaques and Billy's friends as far back as a group from his high
school.
Randy, Jean and Jean were very involved in the planning. Julia, the
architect, designed and headed the family team that hand-made 500 programs.
Jennifer chose excellent music. The prelude cello concerto by Hayden was
played by Martha Vance, Jennifer's teacher and Milka Tokic, the family
piano instructor. Hymns were from the New Century Hymnal from the Christ
Congregational Church, the family's church. A Scandianvian waltz,
Peascod's Gathering, was played by the band who where Billy and Jean would
go dancing. A new favorite of BIlly's, "Let it shine" on CD that Sean gave
him last Christmas was played. The postlude piano solo by Chopin was
played by John Touchstone, the music director of their church.
Five colleagues and friends and five family members spoke about Billy.
Billy's colleagues talked about his team leadership, mentoring,
mathematical and physics-based mind, humor, and game-playing and athletic
skills, and loyalty to family. The dance band leader/accordian player
spoke of Billy and Jean's waltz and Billy and Jennifer's schottische.
Julia and Randy, Sean, Jennifer and Jean spoke of Billy as brother, son,
father, and husband; and while I cannot come close to repeating their
words, they described a man who was loyal, thoughtful, tender, playful,
kind, and intelligent; who always calmly took life in stride and led others
to excell.
Never have I seen such a group of faces with such expressions as we saw
walking out. In the reception hall, there was a display of family
photographs, personal items, academic honors, and favorite games.
And now, it is the family's time to rest.
Karen
