Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
The Caswell Surname Org is run by Noreen Haler in Texas. I have ALL of their
works on the CASWELL CD.

Mike, what is the "CASWELL SURNAME ORG Index"? I didn't know there was a
family organization. Where can I get details? I'm still looking for the
origin of my Rhode Island William, father of Allen Caswell whose son
Anthony was born 1796 in Hopkinton, RI. Thanks for any help. Doris

Please note that I have made the webpage a little easier to see buttons!
You need to 'start' the server if it is not running.
Whenever I go to this page, I always click on the 'start' button, to make
sure the server is running.
Then click on 'submit' to get to the caswellta file.
I have not ammended the file with your data, Janice!

I want to place the GENEWEB output onto the CD. (This is the webpage output
@ www.moonrakers.com/geneweb/ )
So, if anyone has any last minute additions to make to the TAUNTON Ma
database displayed as caswellta, please do it today!
Okay Kathy! Let's see if we can make sense of this!!!! The information on
the marriage of Jotham Caswell, Jr & Mary Reynolds (dtr of Isaac & Dorothy)
came from either the book, Middleboro Town Records to 1850 or the Middleboro
town records.
I am sure Judah & Judith are the same person, sometimes the writing in the
record books are hard to read. I got Judah from the Middleboro to 1850
book.
Now, Jotham, Jr & Electious Jr, both had sisters named Mary.
Mary Reynolds (dtr of Isaac & Dorothy) m. Jotham Caswell SR. (this marriage
info from Middleboro to 1850).
Mary CASWELL (sister of Jotham Jr b. 1735) I do not have a marriage for. So
she probably did marry Ambrose Braley.
Sarah Reynolds, (b. 1742 dtr of E Jr & Charity) married Nathaniel Braley, so
this does make sense. Ambrose was the son of Ambrose & Mary Braley b. in
Middleboro 13 Sep 1732. He also had siblings, Mary b. 30 DEC 1730 and
Gideon b. 29 JAN 1728, also in Middleboro. I do not have an exact date on
Nathaniel (this information came from the IGI so it is more likely that it
actually was Ambrose and there is no Nathaniel!)
I have a feeling this branch of the Caswell's and Reynolds, must have lived
very close together, possibly worked together or something to that effect.
Middleboro is still very rural in parts and I'm sure in those days people
did not live very close to each other like we do today, so their social
lives were very limited.
I hope this helps.
One last note: I don't know where the heck I got Joel from...I checked and
I don't even have a Joel Reynolds in my database...sorry bout that!
Nancy
I have forwarded your request to the Caswell listserver.
Unfortunately, I am going to be unable to carry out these individual
searches in future, I simply don't have the time to do individuals!
Charles F. 31, 212, 341, 446, 763, 1124, 1431, 1483 are the
references in the CASWELL SURNAME ORG Index.

Kathy, You can call your local LDS and they will tell you whether or not
they have the records. Ask them how much to order them. They are usually
pretty good over the phone.

Hello,
Does anyone know where I would find birth records for Taunton and area
for the years 1775 to 1810?
Would the LDS have them on Film?
I'm also interested in Marriage records for 1800 - 1810.

Nancy this from Middleborough/Lakeville Vitals: (mixed in with children
of Electious Jr.,and Charity:
Joel Reynolds Son of Ephraim Reynolds by Alice his wife 20 Oct 1741
Nancy,
The repetition of names does make things confusing.
This is what I have:
Children of Electious Jr. and Charity Caswell:
Jemima b. 1731
Charity b. 1732
Electious b. 1734
Ezekiel b. 1735
Judith b. 1737
Enos b. 1739
Joshua b. 1740
Sarah b. 1742
Alice b. ? (aka ellie) My source for this child is "400 years
of Caswells 1596-1996" by Mrs. Phyliss
Jamison.
I don't know what her source was, but her book
is used as a source for the articles in the
Mayflower Descendant. Mrs. Jamison does have
"The Babbitt Family History" 1643-1900" By
William B. Browne in her Bibliography.
My source for the other children's names and
birth dates are: "The Mayflower Descendant"
"Town Meeting Records 1705-1744 Middleborough,
MA" MA State Archives, Microfilm #945015,
pages 134, 204, &207. And...
Middleborough/Lakeville Vital Records.
I too would like more confirmation that Alice is indeed a daughter of
Electious Jr. and Charity. (Especially since I have no dates for her)
As you can see I have Judith as opposed to your Judah and I have no Joel
listed. If you can enlighten me on this.
I have no marriage for Charity Reynolds ( born dec 6, 1732) daughter of
Electious Jr. and Charity. But I also have no marriage for Jotham
Caswell (born June 6, 1738) son of Jotham Caswell and Mary Reynolds.
What is your source for this marriage?
Another discrepency we have is that Mary Reynolds that married Jotham
Caswell is the daughter of Isaac Reynolds (Electious Jr.'s brother) The
Mary Caswell that is Electious Jr's sister, married Ambrose Braley.
Let me know what you think,
Kathy
This is the line for Joshua Caswell, :
Thomas
William Caswell & Mercy Lincoln
Jotham Caswell & Mary Reynolds
Joshua Caswell and Alice Reynolds
their children: Jotham, Joshua Jr., & Martha

The name of the book is The Caswell Family, The decendants of William Caswell of Lower Norfolk, Virginia through his son Matthew. The author is Mary Underwood Caswell.
Hope this helps.
Joyce
Hi
I just signed on this list. Could someone send the address for the web page? I also have a book on the Caswells. It is about the decendents of William Caswell. If anyone needs a look-up, let me know and I will oblige.

I have the marriage of Alice Reynolds to Joshua Caswell, Jr also. I was
wondering if you have the parents of Joshua? I also don't have Alice as
being the dtr of Electious & Charity. Can you tell me where you got that
info from? I have (from Middleboro Vital Records to 1850) as their
children: Jemima, Charity, Electious, Ezekiel, Sarah, Joel, Judah, Enos,
Joshua
I also have their dtr Charity Reynolds m. to Jotham Caswell (s/o Jotham Cas
& Mary Reynolds) - Jotham is Charity's brother and Mary is Electious'
sister. So you are correct they did marry into each other.
This makes it even more confusing!!
Nancy
My Error is should say she married Joshua Caswell (Sr.)

Hello,
I am trying to find birth and death dates along with a burial place if
possible, for Alice aka Ellie Reynolds (Caswell)
Alice married Joshua Caswell, Jr. on Nov. 10, 1775 in Middleborough, MA
She may have died in NY state, sometime after 1783.
As the Caswell clan intertwined with the Reynolds several times I
thought maybe someone would have some information on this.
I have seen sited as source material for Reynolds line the following:
Electious Reynolds of Salem & Middleborough, MA By Millecent B.
Reynolds
The Reynolds Family Assoc. of America 1892 -1921 - 13th annual Report
(don't know if there was a 14th etc...) Anna C. Rippier.
If anyone has any help or advice it will be appreciated.
Kathy
