Nancy, just wanted to touch base on those New York Caswells from mid 1700
to
late 1800. Do you know of anyone else looking or having information for
our
Taunton families who moved into New York? Thanks, Marilyn Caswell

Everything I know about my Caswells, was in my posting, unfortunately I
don't have many dates. As I live in Japan, I do not have the opportunity
to get back to KY to do any research. I would also be interested in your
Enoch Clark. I am researching a Clark branch also, I have only begun on
that branch. My great grandmother was Mayme Rose Clark she married an
Emanuel Roberts in Shelby County. Do you have any ties with them.
Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I've explored Hart and Hardin counties trying
to make a connection. There is a John Caswell in the 1830 census of
Bullitt Co. that I believe is Werter's father as Werter named his first
son John Alfera Caswell. So, now I'm wondering the significance of the
Alfera- have not found that as a surname, but obviously it has been
carried down. Werter married and lived in
in Louisville, Jefferson Co. in 1850 to Sarah Elizabeth Clark, daughter
of Enoch Clark. Can't tell you much more about Werter before 1850
however, and don't know what happened to John in Bullitt Co that was
listed in the 1830 census.
Big puzzle- can you share which names and dates would be associated
with your family?
Linda
Hi Linda, no connection yet, but just getting some break throughs on this
family. Most of mine appear to be in hart, hardin, and grayson counties,
but bullit is right next door. so maybe their will be a connection.

I've been hoping to find someone researching this line. I am just starting and
have little info as yet. My family is located in southern Indiana and my
grandfather Bert Hayward Caswell was from that area, grandmother was Sally
Webb. The Sego name also as my grandfathers brother Alvie was married to Amy
Sego. Lewis and Grace are also names I'm familiar with as well as Roy. I'll
check with my father for more info.

Nancy, Thank you for the information. My husband descends from John and
Hannah's son John who married Marcy Tiffany. Bob has been looking for years in
New York and specifically Herkimer Co. until I connected with Taunton, Ma. But
New York still plays an important part for his David Caswell, son of John and
Marcy Tiffany Caswell; David's son Warren, and we don't have a name for David's
wife; from Warren there descends two Edwin's the last one born in Ilion,
Herkimer, New York; then Bob's dad Edwin born in Portland, Oregon. Any more
information, land records, wills, probate, etc, would be exciting! Thanks
again, Marilyn Caswell

I think Steve Caswell (sfc(a)tpghq.com) has all of this info. I haven't been
in contact with him for a couple of years, though. Hope he's still at that
e-mail address. He actually wrote a nice manuscript on Benjamin's family
through now! Good one, too!

Comments: Searching for any information on Ezra Caswell.I believe he was born around 1805 in New York.He married a woman from New York named Elizabeth Smith (unsure of when and where the marriage took place). He may have traveled through Ontario (Alymer area?)before finally settling in St.Clair county in Michigan. He had four children-Ambrose,Maria,Henry,and Catherine. My direct line is through Henry.I am interested in any info on Ezra or his children. Will gladly share any info from my end. Thanks for the help!!!

So, now we know that the elusive RICHARDSON is near Winterbourn Bassett.
And that the Baskervilles were of ancient Norman descent.
And they WERE in Ireland! Now this IS important folks!
The Baskervilles and Caswells were in Blackwater Ireland. Where the finest
little piggies were produced and shipped, THROUGH CALNE- to London.
Perhaps this very BASKERVILLE was the one who lived in Blackwater, alongside
Samuel Caswell? If so, it would show that these two families were major
players in the Wiltshire pork trades.
