I have been asked about Halberts and their family history books on specific
surnames on several occasions.
I think this page on Cyndi Howell's excellent gene site explains it all!
It is in regard to a 'cease & desist order' by the US Postal Service.
Please note - I have seen this literature coming in the UK, from a site in
Ramsbury - WILTSHIRE (How could they! :-( )

I know there is a lady in Toronto who is researching this man. She has a
wealth of information - but - senility has struck- and I simply can't
remember her name.
As soon as I post this, I'm sure the light bulb will come on ! :-)

am looking for info on Robert and Serah(probably Sarah) Caswell..Came to
America inappx. 1855. They had at least one child James Elias Caswell age
15. They seem not to have ties with Caswell to Ma. They may have come in
through Port Of New Orleans. They settled in St.Landry Parish (county)
Louisiana. If anyone can inform me as to where I cane find passengers list
from England for that period I'd truly appreciate it.

>CASWELL, WARREN, was born in Randolph, Cattaraugus county, in 1828, a son
of SYLVESTER of Tioga county, whose father was SAMUEL, a native of
Connecticut and a Revolutionary soldier. The latter came to this county in
1812, and later removed to Cattaraugus county, where he spent his remaining
days. Sylvester, the father, re- moved from Henrietta to Cattaraugus county
in 1824, where he died. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, and a strong
Abolitionist. His wife was VIOLETTA ACKER, born in Rush, and their children
were THOMAS, CELIA, NARCISSA, WARREN, EDWARD and LOVINA. Our subject began
for himself at the age of twenty as carpenter and joiner, erecting seven
buildings the first year. Later he became a millwright, and in 1861 came to
Henrietta and settled on his present farm of 180 acres. He is also a dealer
in cattle. He has served as assessor several years, and for over twenty
years has served as justice, being held in high esteem for his upright
character and wise decisions. !
>In 1861 he married MARY, daughter of JAMES McNALL, and their children are
SAMUEL S., JAMES, and WARREN, JR.
>
>The estate papers of a JOHN BRININSTOOL who died 22 Dec 1820, a resident of
Henrietta in Ontario County, New York make mention of a WARREN CASWELL. Any
connection between this Warren and the family cited above? Also, John
Brininstool's sister POLLY BRININSTOOL married a JAMES McNALL - seems very
likely that there's a connection of some kind between Polly Brininstool
McNall's husband James and the James McNall who was the father-in-law of the
Warren Caswell mentioned in the passage quoted above.

Hello Jack:
Hugh and I have been researching the Caswell name in Canada for many years,
and have accumulated a large amount of data on your family. We are
descended from a James Caswell, who we believe is a 4th brother of Samuel,
Henry C and Robert. Your Samuel is actually a son of Henry C.
We can send you the information that we have collected, if you wish, by
mail. We also have photocopies of several pictures.
Do you know Ann Harris? We have recently sent a copy of most of our
information to her. Her E:mail address is <annha(a)interlog.com>. She lives
in Ontario.
The book written by Shirley Mayse is very good for her lines of Caswell.
However, there are major errors in your line.
They are on pg 89 - Samuel born 1827 is the SON of Henry C, not his
brother. We have photocopies of Bible pages belonging to Henry C and his
wife Ann Ackland, listing the names and birthdates of their children. The
second error is that Eliza Jane Bailey was the wife of Henry Ackland
Caswell, not Henry C, as is inferred.
Henry C Caswell and Ann Ackland were married in Ireland, and emigrated to
Lanark co ON, later moving to Grey Co.
We live in Swift Current SK. Where are you located?
Beulah Caswell
