Is there a list of good Caswell references? This one wouldn't be of help to

These people are buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, N.H. with my
relatives. Does anyone know anything about any of them?

I have copies of the book written by Shirley Mayse regarding the Canadian
Caswell line that originates in Blackwater Ireland.
I scanned the entire book a few years ago, and Shirley gave me permission
to reprint it.
If you want a copy, they are $20 inc surface postage.
There are some 570 pages of Shirleys text, which I have condensed into 400
by removing photos, (which didn't reproduce well) and making the font
smaller.

He is 74 yrs young!
I phoned him today, and his brother has some data for that line ,which he

Hopefully this will put us one step closer to joining these two Casswell

I have just learned that a Great Uncle, William Henry Allen (b
1/3/1875, d 5/18/1934, was the child of George Allen and Mary E.
Caswell. His death certificate says he was born in Dade County Mo.
(County seat: Greenfield) and that both parents were from unknown
cities in Kentucky (KY). Interested in any Caswell family who might
be Mary's. I don't know where they were married. Mary and George
do not appear on the 1870 or 1880 census in Dade County.
Thanks for any help.

I can't find a W H Casswell (or Caswell) in my files. There were very few
Cas(s)wells in Berkshire. There is another CASSWELL line from up north near
Northampton, but I suspect this one came from my Yatesbury, Wilts clan.
The CASSWELL name - with 2 s's - relates mainly to my branch that emigrated
to Canada then Oregon. It is an unusual spelling and in almost every case I
have been able to connect the person with my main tree.
This one has me beat - so far!
Thanks Terence!

Hello everyone!
I have new information on 3 generations of Caswells I'd like to
share. *I've traced my Caswell line through Wisconsin to
New York!* If anyone sees any connection please e-mail me.
First here are the names, then I'll "tell" how I found all this in a
matter of hours. Then I also have some Caswell Soundex info
to share.
Mirton A. CASWELL (my gr.grandfather), b. 1879 in
Wisconsin (possibly Pierce County--still checking on that
part); spouse: Christine HAANEN, married in Beardsley,
Traverse County, MN on 9 Feb 1902; died 1953 in
Bremerton, Kitsap, Washington and is buried in SD
--then Mirt's father--
Peter Hy. Renwick CASWELL, b. 1858 in Wisconsin
(possibly Pierce County, still checking that one too)
spouse: Martha Burns ASHBOUGH; died 1912 in
Traverse County, MN of heart failure; (also owned a
farm in Traverse Cty--If you want the details you can
e-mail me)
--then Peter's Father--
Peter Willington CASWELL, b. ? in New York,
spouse: Nancy Maria HENRY (still gathering more
info for this generation)
If you have information on any of those people, please
e-mail me. Now, to how I found all that stuff in just hours.
My husband's new job has brought us to Browns Valley,
MN--Just 6 miles from where Mirt and Peter H.R. lived.
And I've been stuck on this line for almost 2 years! I just
went up to the county courthouse and looked through their
records. I do want to order a census and double check
the information. I have found the graves of my HAANEN
gr-gr-grandparents, and cousins are still living here. I am
still searching for the graves of Peter and Martha CASWELL
--they are proving to be harder to find. But as they both died
here, and had infant twins die here, I expect to find at least 4
CASWELL graves around here some place. My father,
Bob Caswell, is driving over from western SD this week to
visit us and see whatever Caswell sights I've found.
I'm sooo excited!!!
And the Soundex info--I posted the Caswell Soundex for
Wisconsin (year 1900) on my web page. It lists names, dates
and places of birth, spouses and children. If you have any
Caswells that might have been living in Wisconsin in 1900 see
it at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/8020/caswel2.html
I will be posting the 1880 Soundex in a week or so.

Hi everyone,
I'm back after my move to Minnesota. Where is Mike's Caswell Family

tell me if it's still on the web, and where?

Carol, I've been trying to get an answer to this same question! Sue
Isn't anyone else out there interested in the CASWELL families of
Kentucky? If you are please contact me. My earliest known CASWELL is
William who married Betsey/Elizabeth WATKINS in Hardin County, Ky.. He
was reportedly born there but his parents are a mystery. His son,
Ransom A. CASWELL married Rebecca ASHBAUGH abt. 1834 in Hart/Hardin
County, Ky.. Their son, John Jack (lying Jack) Caswell was married to
Mary Powell of Grayson County, Ky.. Their son Thomas was married to Ada
OLDHAM (BELIEVED TO HAVE UN_IDENTIFIED NATIVE AMERICAN). Their daughter
Nettie Floernce CASWELL PUCKETT is my great great grandmother and is
still living at 92. Please tell me that someone else out there is
interested or even better has information on this line.
