Dear Linda,
This is what Donald M. Custer had in his genealogy of "The Descendants
of Paul and Sarah Ball Custer":
"George W., 1824, lived in Cumberland County, Pa. in 1850; in Delaware
Co. in 1880. Married WILHEMINA (OSBORN?) b. 1826 I believe her maiden
name may have been Osborn, and that she was related to George's mother,
for living with them in 1850 were two Osborn children, Amalia, b. 1843,
and Mary Jane, b. 1834. The census is unusual for the 1850 one in that
it gives the relationship of these to the head of the household or his
wife, and says "sister"." page 6.
Paul Custer who married Sarah Ball was the brother of Nicholas.
Nicholas is the direct ancestor of Gen. Custer. The common ancestor for
the lines of Paul and Nicholas is their father, Arnold Custer. There
are other members who are direct descendants of Nicholas who have
documented this line thoroughly and may help you further.
I would be happy to help with any further questions on the
descendants of Paul and Sarah Ball Custer.
Sincerely, Grace
Grace Custer Ebneter
