Hi, all,
An interesting thing, this Tom Kaster is someone who sent me an email
unrelated to genealogy and, seeing the name, I of course immediately wrote to
him to see if he was a cousin. His answer is below. I don't think there's
any reason to contact him further unless there is someone out there who has
this spelling and who has been trying unsuccessfully to connect to us. Maybe
it ought to at least be cross-referenced somewhere in the CAOA archives for
future reference. Cris

Hi Cris,
Thank you for your note. "My name Kaster" is derived from the Greek
name (in phoenetics) "Si-thee-rho-ka-stree-tees". From what I
understand, my imigrant Grandfather was dubbed "Kaster" by his
tongue-tied U.S. Army seargent, and it stuck.
