Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the heads up on the different spellings of the Custer name. I
will add them to my list for research.
The Castor Association officially recognizes all of the variations of the
spelling of the suname. We only list the 17 surname variations in our logo
since they represent the lines that we have been tracking. The association
welcomes members who are interested in researching any of the lines or has
an interest in any of the lines. We have several members who are not
directly related to any of the lines.

Subject: [Castor] KAESTER, KOESTER, KISTER, KISTLER
To: CASTOR-L(a)rootsweb.com
Hello,
Forgive me for nosing in here, but our family's spelling of CUSTER was
KAESTER, which is not that different from KOESTER. Castor Assoc. doesn't
'recognize' officially either of the latter 2 spellings but I definitely
link to the CUSTERs there.
I realize this will only confuse the issue, but I've been working lately
on-line, Rootsweb, in the PA counties of Lehigh, Berks, etc., where there
are lots of KISTLERs. It hadn't occurred to me that my KAESTERs, who I
really haven't focused on yet there, might be related to the KISTLERs - not
that they are, but who knows .. ! We were focusing on KISTLER properties
because we'd read that one of the old cemeteries might have been located
there. Haven't resolved that yet.
I realize the above revelations may be meaningless, but some revelations are
good, aren't they? w.
