Now you see why I get excited & a bit agitated when this query comes up.
Kelley you say? They came through NYC. What would Kelly have been in
Ireland?
Any relation to the Kuster family of Gen. George Armstrong Custer
(Kaldenkirchen, Rhineland-Palatinate, now Rhineland-Pfaltz? I descend from
it. It ties into the Rex/Ru[umlaut]ger family (& a son or grandson of the
immigrant married a Yeager of the same name). The Rex family in turn ties
to the Silvius one.
I know how frustrating it is with families having known each other without
necessarily a kinship. Rexs & Arners were that way & may have been related
but that has yet to be determined.
Michael Gallagher
My paternal grandfather's mother was Gertrude Kelly (daughter of Patrick
Kelly & Anne Frank, supposedly a Prussian royal family descendant [b. in
PA])
My paternal grandmother's mother was a Rex, descending from Rexs, Silvii,
Kusters, & Holders.

I thought I would send the following along as Ann Hunter on my Kelley
line
-lines up with the Ann Elizabeth (Hunter) you wrote about. I'm in the
process of re-establishing my computer files for genealogy so I haven't
followed much over the last couple of months but this caught my eye.
Mary,
Marie, Judy and Don and everyone else - I hope all is well your way.

Subject: [SILVIUS] Philip Kuster and the Sivius
Recently noted queries of December 2003 and January 2004 regarding Philip
Kuster and the Silvius with great interest. I research that Keister family
and have been trying to determine if there is a connection with Jonas and
Anna Maria Silvius.
Ludwig Kuster/Kister emigrated from Durstel, Alsace, France arriving in
Philadelphia in 1752 and settled in Northampton Co., PA. Included were his
wife and sons George Philip and Ludwig. There is no connection between
this
family and Paulus Keister and other Keister families that settled in
Virginia. In early 1773 brothers George Philip Keister b1748/1749 and
Ludwig
Keister b1751/1752 emigrated west and settled in Hempfield Twp.,
Westmoreland Co., PA. In late 1774 George Philip married Ann Elizabeth.
Researchers for years have tried to determine Ann Elizabeth's maiden
surname
without success. One possible name is Hunter but several sources
indicate
she was of German ancestry. Since German for Hunter is Jager/Yeager the
possibility exists that she was a Yeager. No proof one way or another to
date.
Apparently Johannes/Jonas/John Silvius was born in 1759 in Northampton Co.
and died in 1831 in Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co. and married Anna
Maria
Yeager in 1780. Anna Maria was born in 1759. Church records show
George
Philip and Ann Elizabeth were sponsors of Anna Sara Silvius born
11-11-1784
and baptised 3-29-1794. She was d/o of Johannes and Anna Maria
Silvuis. On
4-22-1787 Catherine Keister d/o George Philip and Ann Elizabeth was
baptised
with Johannes and Anna Maria Silvius sponsors. On 1-22-1789 Michael
Keister
s/o George Philip and Ann Elizabeth was baptised with Catherine
Silvies
and
Christina Meyer sponsors. All this took place in Hempfield Township.
I have been unable to determine Anna Maria Yeager's parents or siblings.
Was
Ann Elizabeth a sister or a friend or just a neighbor. Certainly the
Keister
and Silvius families knew each other well.
Any thoughts or information regarding this matter will be greatly
appreciated.
