WILLIAM ECKLE. She married (2) JAMES A. MCMILLEN 10 October 1874 in
Harrison Co., OH.

Known squatter in Brookfield by the name of James McMillen, Sr. Eventually
he did purchase land in the area.
Notes for JAMES A. MCMILLEN:
Brookfield: Township four, range 1. Drawn by Samuel Hinkley. His first
conveyance was to James McMullen, Sr who established Brookfield circa 1798.
(I have conflicting dates on this, one says 1798 one says 1801).
There was a known squatter in this area by the name of JAMES MCMILLEN SR.
Eventually he did purchase land in this area.
John Cuter was a squatter in Harrison Co., OH. Evicted with 20 other
families from there. Settled in OH County, W.VA. Had several 100 acres. His
brother, Jacob, settled in Harrison Co., OH. John was the grandfather of
Gen. Geo. A. Custer. Emanuel purchased land for each of his daughters in
Harrison Co., OH. Mary, Susannah, Catherine, Jacob and Emanuel Henry Custer
settled there. Emanuel Custer is mentioned in Henry R. Baldwin's
Genealogical Records as grandfather of Gen. Custer, and stated that he
lived to over 100 years of age, d. in MD. James A. McMillen was a squatter
at Brookfield. He married Jennie Custer, daughter of Harvey Custer, and
granddauaghter of George Custer. Harvey died in Franklin Co., OH.
Richard Custer and Almira Wetmore were buried in Mercer Co., PA in the
Stoneboro cemetery, in the same section as Samuel E. Custer's family were
buried and not far from their lot. Richard is of the line of Conrad Custer
and Susannah Adams.
Can anyone give me some help on who Harvey Custer m. and who George
Custer, his father married? Thanks in advance.
