Dear Tom,
So happy to hear that you will join the Castor Association. The
Directory will lead you to close cousins. We have several members who
are descendants of Peter Custer. Then when a new cousin comes along who
needs help, you can help them when you see they are descended from Peter
or one of his children. It will still be up to them to verify and
document their family tree, but it will certainly save a great deal of
time and duplication of effort if we can help our cousins. As I
understand it, the purpose of the Castor Association is to preserve and
research the history of all the names listed on our web page. The
Custer name (spelled various ways) is, of course, our particular
connection to the Castor Association. The book, "Descendants of Paulus
and Gertrude Kusters", published by the Castor Association and edited by
Jean White contains references to research done by many Custer
descendants such as Milo Custer, Donald M. Custer, and Chester E.
Custer. Chester's 32 volumes of Custer research is available through
the Family History Library which is open to the public for research. If
you haven't purchased the Paulus book yet, I will tell you that I know
you will be most happy to have it as it contains information on our
ancestors.
Love, Grace
