Trivia buffs!
I have just learned some GREAT and interesting news. An article (which I've
not yet read) appeared in the Los Angeles Times Parade Section (Sunday, 17
Oct 99) announcing the upcoming dedication of the NEW "Medal of Honor
Memorial" at the Riverside, CA National Cemetery.
One of my fellow Aerojet employees came running in my office yesterday and
said,
"Have I got the trivia question of all times for YOU?"
I said, "Go ahead and ask me."
He first said, "Did you know there were only NINE (9) Americans to have ever
received two (2) Congressional Medals of Honor?"
I said, "No, I didn't know that."
He then said, "Did you know that you are related to one of them?"
I asked, was it "The General?"
He said, "NO!" It was his brother, Tom Custer!!!
Does anyone know what they (Medals of Honor) were for?
It appears that there's some kind of ceremony tomorrow (Oct 20th) according
to the newspaper article. Don't know any details... however, I called
information and got the phone number - (909) 653-8417 - for the Riverside
National Cemetery and got their recording. When I got the recording re: The
Medal of Honor Memorial... it announced that the dedication ceremony will be
November 5th. That's all I know...
