I just received one of the MOST interesting phone calls this morning
that I've EVER had. It was from Anthony Williams. He was "surfing the
net" and found our Web Site! Since my phone number was there, he called
me here at work (BTW, which is okay).
Anthony lives in Corona, CA (about 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles)
and is both a corrections officer and a registered nurse. His sister is
a graduate of UC Berkley and has applied for law school. His mother is
a CUSTER... he has been trying to find out something about his CUSTER
ancestors who owned a 360 acre (plantation?) farm somewhere around Union
Town, Alabama... in or around the 1860's... his maternal great
grandfather was Black and Indian... yes, you heard it right! He's VERY
interested in finding out if he is related to Paulas and Gertrude
Kusters - obviously, he has the book because he new about Kaldenkirchen,
Germany and Germantown, PA and has seen the photos that are in the
book...
We talked for a long time and he's thinking of joining the CAOA. I gave
him some information re: the LDS Family History Centers (LA's is 2nd
largest!) and suggested he check it out. I mentioned checking the
Alabama land records. I also suggested he contact Grace CUSTER Ebneter
- since Peachtree, GA, is pretty close to Alabama...
Does anyone have any more suggestions for this nice gentleman? If so,
you can relay them to me in private and I will see that he gets them...
THANKS,
Ken Custer, President
