As my maternal ancestors are Custers from IN, I scanned my data files for
Elizabeth Custer as a maiden name and as a married name for the time period
given. Sorry to say I wasn't able to find her in my data. It would be
great if someone in Indy could eyeball the surrounding graves of Elizabeth
and see if there are any other family members nearby. Or perhaps someone
could look at the 1860 IN Federal Census to find her family and share this
info with all of us.

Subject: [CASTOR] Elizabeth Custer Headstone Image in Indianapolis Star
Greetings Castor List,
An article in today's Indianapolis Star regarding cleaning up an old
cemetery on the south side of Indy featured a photo of the headstone of
Elizabeth Custer. Near the end of the article it mentions that she was born
in 1788 and died in 1865 at age 97. I'm including a link to the on-line
version of the Star that has the article and digital copy of the image. In
the image as shown on the article only half the stone is shown, but if you
click on the image, you can open a large version that includes more of the
stone. Once you have it open you can right click and save a copy for your
files if you like.
I don't know how long the online Star keeps these pages active. I'll try to
save a copy in text as well as html format for future reference.
Hope someone on the list finds this useful. Here's the link:
