Jan & Kathy
I checked my file on Paulus and found this info:
Paulus KUSTER came to America with his wife and family with Wm. PENN and
his second group of immigrants from Krefeld, GER on the ship "WELCOME", to
Germantown, PA. He was an early settler of Germantown, PA and was named Land
Protector in 1684. Appointed committeeman of the corporation of
Germantown, PA. 12-2-1700. Appointed Overseer of fences for Germantown, PA
in 1706. Naturalized in 1691.
Jan:
This is the first I've heard of a ship being attached to the Kuster
emigration. Sounds very exciting, and I will explore further. In the
meantime, I am also posting your data to the Original-13 list. Perhaps
someone on that list has more ship info.

<< In my Grandmother Custer's papers was this information in her
handwriting:
"In 1682 Paulus Custer came to America from Germany on the S.S. Fox. His
children were Arnold, Johannes, and Hermanus. Paul Custer, son of
Hermanus,
settled in Montgomery Co. Pennsylvania." No source was indicated.
My cursory search for this ship turned up only:
1) "The Fox", an immigrant ship which sailed from Rotterdam, to Plymouth,
to
Philadelphia, arriving 12 Oct 1738 - no Kusters or similar names listed;
2) "The Fox" an immigrant ship from the Netherlands from an unspecified
port
to New York and New Jersey arriving 31 Aug 1662 - no Kusters or similar
names
listed.
Anyone else ever run across anything linking Paulus Kuster's passage to
America with a ship name?
