Garry, In 1998 you answered my post and I can't remember if I asked you this
question.
Lucinda Custer buried in the Myers Cemetery near Goshen, Ohio is not the same
as Lucinda Custer buried in California. This Lucinda is the daughter of
Abraham Custer as stated in Abraham's will and our family records. Thus my
question is, "Do you have access to see what name is on Lucinda Custer's
tombstone in Myers Cemetery?" I can find no Essley/Custer marriage of John's
daughter Lucinda and one of my Essley ancestors.
Lucinda's (and my ancestry also is) William Custer, Sr.; William Custer, Jr.;
and her father Abraham Custer. We believe that George Custer born in 1705 in
Germantown, PA and married to Mary Rhodes June 28, 1731, are the parents of
William Custer, Sr. But on page 125 in "The Descendants of Paulus and
Gertrude Kusters" item 9 states, "9. There were nine children of George and
Mary (Rhoads) as stated in the preceding court petition. Family tradition
relates William Custard born 1729/1732 PA...to George Custard. No proof has
been found that George Custard is the father of this William." So far I have
found no records which prove that William definitely was in the line of
George/Arnold/Paulus/Arnold/Johannes/ and Reinhart Custer.
I recently found on a Family Treemaker search that OLOLUS CUSTER born 1815
and died before 1606 is the father of Reinhart Custer but no reference where
this OLOLUS/Reinhart data was found. Do you know anything else about Ololus
Custer?
I am sending my application (and check) today to become a member of The
Castor Association. I'm hoping to find definite links between George and
William. Any Custer information is always helpful to me. - Gloria Essley
