Hi Alice, Thanks for your concern. So far, it seems name is spelled in
enough different ways that I'm quite sure it's not of French origin. Also,
she may have had 2 last names, the 2nd of which may have started with an
's'. Quite probably both last names were of Germanic or Dutch origin.
Instead of being Nuzan, it may have been Nuzum/Nusum/Newsome - most versions
given, so far, end in an 'm'.
