We celebrate Paulus Kuster and his wife Gertrude Doors.
That's to be expected. After all, they were the first of the family to come
to America and deserve all our gratitude for that.
However, I am not clear on why the earlier Kuster generations seem to be
pushed to the background and sometimes even ignored all together. That
would be Reiner Kuster and his son Johannes....and his son Arnold, the
father of Paulus. That's three earlier generations encompassing nearly 100
years!
Most families emphasize their OLDEST ancestors.....brag on about how they
can trace their family back to 15 hundred......whatever! I find it curious
that we seem to ignore these earlier fellows.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the subject.
