Jeff,
Very interesting. I will feed this into the lot and see how it comes out.
Thanks
Paul

I am looking for info on a number of Castors. I have six mid-19th century
letters to my gg grandfather, John Deeds, in Portersville PA that mention
Castors. One is from one Albert Harrison (or O. Albert Harrison), sent
from Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio and dated February 19, 1848.
Harrison's mother was, I think, a Castor. In the letter, he makes the
following statements:
"Aunt Hanna from Coshocton County came to pay us a visit last fall and is
still with us but is going back in the spring. She has had her health very
good this winter."
"Aunt Hanna wants to hear from you all. She walks with a cane. She never
married but has two children by a man by the name of Butler, a boy and a
girl. The girl is with her, and the boy is his own man and was in Mexico
one year and has returned and has returned back home again and is gone to
the Illinois and has located his land in Peoria County. His name is Squire
H. Butler. He was married after he returned home. He was married in
Allegheny City, Pennsylvania."
In other letters from family members, in about this same time-frame, the
following Castors are mentioned (unfortunately, most have fairly common
names):
Benjamin Castor (probably PA)
Cassandra Castor (probably PA)
George Castor (probably PA)
Jacob Castor
John Castor
Margaret Castor
Mary Castor
Nancy Castor
The family seems to have split, with some going to Indiana and writing to
those in Pennsylvania.
Also, I THINK my ggg grandmother was Deborah Castor Deeds (1876-1860), who
married Philip Deeds and lived in Portersville or North Sewickley, PA.
I have sent transcripts of all of the relevant letters to Patricia Caster,
but if anyone wants to see them, I will try to oblige.

I thought I'd be reading some comments on the article about George Armstrong
Custer in the current/new History Magazine.
Would you say it was a fair summary of his career?
This list has been so quiet.....
we need some discussion!

Hi!
I'm brand new to these lists. I've just discovered that my ancestor,
Barnabas Rhodes, had a niece, Sarah Martha Ball, and a sister, Mary Rhodes,
who were married to Kuster/Custer/Custard.
Have been trying to find the identity of Barnabas' wife. I have a hunch that
she, too, may have been a Kuster (or some such spelling). Would love to
share information with anyone who has a Kuster/Rhodes connection.
Is anyone out there planning to attend this CAOA reunion (Castor Association
of America)? PLEASE email me directly on this. Don't want to clog up the
lists.
Happy hunting,
Kelli
Hi, thought I would pass this site along...sounds pretty good, its about
ordering CD's with the county census of your choice for each state. Corinna

Hello Gloria,
I don't remember seeing the name Ololus Custer. I also can't seem to put my
hands on anything right now that would help with your other questions about
Lucinda Custer, but don't give up. I believe the answers are out there,
especially through the Castor Association. I'll keep your e-mail at hand. If
something turns up that looks promising I'll send it your way.
Good luck,
Garry Custer

There are 7 pages of Custer names. I haven't searched the other
spellings, yet. Copies of the orig. record are available. Great
page!!!! Hint---set search for "all States"--enlightening!
Have days of fun!!!
