Ottie Darrell Casto, 96, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away July 4, 2014, at
Eagle Pointe Nursing Home, Parkersburg. (Wood County)
He was born in Charleston, WV on Feb. 23, 1918, a son of the late Boyd and Ivy Doughty
Casto.
He retired from the United Dairy Services in Coshocton, Ohio after 36 years of service.
He was a millright and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 637, Zanesville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Flota Faye Tolley Casto; and one
brother, Basil O. Casto.
He is survived by four children, Dallas Casto of Washington, W.Va., Wallace Casto of
Spencer, Loretta McGregor of Parkersburg, WV and Delores Myers of Boaz, WV; seven
grandsons, William B. Whitlatch and Robert Whitlatch, Mike, Tim and Greg Myers, and Brian
and Mark Casto; six great-granddaughters, Christina, Kindra and Laura Whitlatch, Celeste
Casto, Caitlyn and Brook Myers; and one great-grandson, Alex Casto.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. today at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005
Grand Central Ave., Vienna.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Sinaiville United Methodist Church Cemetery,
Statts Mills in Jackson County, West Virginia.
STATTS MILLS - Iva M. Doughty CASTO, 104, of Statts Mills died May 7, 1999, in Jackson
General Hospital, Ripley, after a long illness.
She was a member of Sinaiville United Methodist Church, was a housewife and a midwife.
Surviving: sons, Ottie D. and Basil O. CASTO, both of Parkersburg; sisters, Opal Rhodes of
Ohio, Anabelle Rhodes of Pocatalico; 13 grandchildren; several great- and
great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sinaiville United Methodist Church, Statts Mills, with
the Rev. Johnny White officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, and
one hour prior to service at the church. (Charleston Gazette, May 8, 1999)
Basil O. Casto Sr., 87 of Parkersburg, WV died September 1, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Charleston, WV on February 12, 1922 and was the son of the late Emory Boyd
and Ivy Myrtle Doughty Casto.
He had his own radio, tv repair business and had worked for the Pinkerton Security Co. and
also the Wackinhut Security and also had worked as an electrician.
Survivors include his wife Elsie Casto, three sons, Basil O. Casto Jr. of Parkersburg,
Gary B. Casto of Statts Mills, WV, Terry L. Casto of Ripley, WV, three daughters, Masil
Casto of Parkersburg, Sharon Weaver of Millwood, WV, Avis Turner of Ravenswood, WV, four
stepchildren, Linda, Millie, Wayne, Roger Haislep, a brother Ottie Casto of Parkersburg
and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three children, Mellissa Casto Espy, William A. Casto, and
Eric G. Casto.
Services will be on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial
will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 til 8 PM.
