Joe,
Thanks for your note. The earliest documented source for my antecedents is the 15 Nov
1769 baptismal record of my ggggg-grandparents', Peter and Mary Magdalena Castner,
first child at Heidelburg Union Church, Heidelburg Township, Bucks/Northampton/Lehigh
County, Pa. Undocumented sources have him born in Bucks County, 1733.
After Peter and Mary Magdalena migrated to Washington County, Pa., a daughter, Maria
Catherina, married Isaac Teeple, from New Jersey, probably New Brunswick.
More to the point, another daughter, Elizabetha, married John Grant, from Liberty Corners,
New Jersey.
Immigrant families often formed associations (sometimes carried over from the old country)
and moved westward in concert. The Castners, Grants and Teeples were clearly associated
in New Jersey and intermarried there. However, I have been unable to trace Peter Castner
back to the New Jersey Castners, although I am sure there was a connection.
My branch of the Castners was far west, even into Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and even Montana in
the date range you list.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I sure would like to link Peter Castner back to the
New Jersey bunch.
Steve Castner
