Sorry, in all my HAZLETT or CASTNER research, I've never come across
Putnam (or any of the other surnames you mentioned) in relation to my lineages.
Madge (Hazlett) Johns
My ancestor Victor Davidse Potman, or Putman, about 1760 was in the
Changewater area, probably just north of Changewater near
Beattystown and Pleasant Grove, NJ, and near the Musconetcong River.
The name Victor was used by the Castner and the Hazlett families who
appear to have been closely allied, and since my Victor Putman was
in the area earlier I wonder if Victor Hazlet and Victor Castner
might not descend from Victor Putman.
Victor's sister Cornelia Putman married Christopher Vought and lived
near Clinton, NJ, while it seems Victor Putman's assumed brother
Johannes Putman lived near Pleasant Grove, NJ, which are all in the
general area just north and east of Changewater. Johannes Putman
seems to have had a daughter Elizabeth Putnam who married Samuel
Swayze and lived in Pleasant Grove, NJ, before moving to MS.
Cornelia [1711-], Johannes [1714-], and Victor [1721-]
Pottman/Putman were children of David Pottman, Potman, of
Potterstown, NJ, who died there in 1761. I think the town was named
for David Potman.
Another daughter of David's was Sophia Putman [1713-] who married
Thomas Auten.
Can you think of a link to David Potman and his son Victor and the
Castner and Hazlett families.
Incidentially, this Putman family [David Pottman family] lived just
east of what is now Hazlett, NJ, in Monmouth County about 1710-1722.
