Hi1
No, I live in Wisconsin. Grew up in Illinois not far from where the Castners settled in
Geneva. Where Abraham's wife is buried.
I didn't mean to imply that John Castner didn't work, but I knew that it was the
Parkes that had the money and owned the house the farm. His half brother Abraham had
money because he put up quite a bit of the reward money himself. I am assuming when he
died there had to be a fair amount for his wife and kids (grown for the most part) to
relocate as far away as Illinois.
I didn't think there were any images that anyone knew of or they would have been on
the internet....but I thought just in case since you live there you would have a better
handle on it than I do from this distance.
I just thought maybe locally someone might know. Because portraits were so popular back
then and traveling artists would go town to town and do them for families. I thought
because the Parkes had money and so did Abraham that there would be an outside chance that
portraits had been done.
Thank you for your time and reply. I appreciate that!
Sincerely,
Sue
