The name "Castner" is clearly of Teutonic/Germanic origin. It was,
historically, spelled in several ways...usually k-a-s-t-n-e-r, sometines k-a-a-s-t-n-e-r
or k-a-s-t-e-n-e-r. There are at least two derivations:
...an occupational name, referring to a man who made boxes or chests. Cf.
"kas", "kist", "kast"
...an occcupational name referring to a man who was a miller, or who had charge of
distributing the grain harvest to his community
