My Kastners are all from Maine, not Pennsylvania, having arrived there from Germany
ca. 1753.
But there is a book that you should know about. Unfortunately, I don't have a
specific reference to it, because when I examined it, it turned out not to be pertinent.
But I do remember that it had to do with a Castner family who came over and settled in
Philadelphia in the latter part of the 1600's.
I suggest that you write to the American Antiquarian Society at 185 Salisbury Street,
Worcester, Massachusetts 01609. The society is a very fine [and famous] research
institution dealing with early American history.
That is where I saw the book. As I recall, it was only 25-30pp long. I'm sure
the librarian would xerox it for you for not very uch $$. Or you might be able to locate
a copy through your own library, via interlibrary loan.
If you're not already familiar with it, it'd be worth your while to track it
down, since it does deal with Castners in early Penna. days. Good luck.... R.C.
