SIDE NOTE ON NOTE #4: Abraham Castner died two years after his half brother John was
murdered. His nephews Victor and John then went to live with their mother's sister
Sarah Parke. Sarah never married. Sarah is buried with Victor's family in
Musconetcong Valley Cemetry, Hunterdon County, new Jersey. It is located on Asbury Road.
Her headstone reads, "Aunt Sarah Parke Maiden Aunt of Victor Parke Died October 8,
1885 Aged 97 YEARS 4 MO. 21 DAYS."
John, Maria, daughter Mary and John Parke are buried in Mansfield Woodhouse Presbyterian
Church Cemetery. There are three headstones, all identical, and baby Mary is buried with
her mother. Their headstone reads, "I could have forgave my murderers had they not
slain my child. Our blood mingles and cries our to God for vengence."
(I have visited their grave site in NJ. Also, many other Castner grave sites and have
photographed them.)
It is now believed that Joe Carter and Peter Parke did not commit the murders. They
believe there was a quick prosecution and trial because of the reward money put up by the
state of NJ and Abraham Castner.
They were buried at a cross roads, in unmarked graved along side a raidroad track. It was
believed that the spirit of someone buried by a railroad track never rested for all
eternity.
