Paul:
It's rewarding to hear from a relative. It appears that Catherina's grandson,
John Flemming Teeple, and the grandson of her brother, Johannes, Peter Castner, both
migrated to Indiana. Peter (II) is my ggg, and likewise, Johannes, Catherina's
brother, is my gggg.
You are absolutely correct about the "called name" and the baptismal name. Mary
Magdalena is a case in point. She exists nearly everywhere as Magdalena, but she made her
mark to Mary Castner on a deed in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Presumably, the deed
was drafted by a person of other than German descent who used the English convention of
"first" name.
Presently, I am trying to tie up loose ends in present Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, to
identify the parents of Peter (I) and Mary Magdalena.
If it wouldn't be too much to ask, I would appreciate the details of Catherina's
side of the family, and would like to add it to the expanding Castner tree.
Send me a direct email to slcastner(a)ameritech.net and let me know where you are.
Thank you for your note. Let's stay in touch.
