Sonja,
In this timeframe it seems that best records are usually found in family Bibles (hard to
come by), church records, or local history. Most of the Castners in this generation were
Lutherans. That might be one lead to follow. Somerset Co., NJ also has some genealogical
publications if I'm not mistaken. Checking indexes of archives might be another
possibility. It seems that the William I mentioned (b. 1797 in Somerset Co., NJ) moved to,
and married his first wife in (what would soon become) Yates Co., NY (formerly a part of
Ontario Co.). He may have married his second wife, Lucy Insco (who would have been your
William's mother, if this is the right family) either in Yates Co., NY (it was Yates
Co. by then) or may have gone back to NJ(?) for a time and married there.
The 1797 William was an older brother to my ggg grandmother, Amy (Naomi) Castner. She (and
every generation between her and me) grew up in Yates Co., NY.
Best wishes for your search.
Joe
