OK, here goes nothing......
First I'll tell you what I "know" and then I'll tell you what little
bit
I've been able to hypothosize.
Elijah Franklin Castleberry was born about 1819 in probably Caldwell Co.,
KY. He married Emily Mae Yates on 8 Dec 1819 in Princeton, Caldwell, KY.
Sometime between 1850 and 1869 Emily dies. In about 1869 Elijah Franklin
Castleberry marries the widow Jemima Lancaster and they have a daughter in
Jun 1870...proven by the 1870 and 1880 census for Trigg Co., KY.
However....this is the problem....ol' Elijah abandons Jemima prior to their
daughter's birth. The only explanation that I've been able to piece
together is that he was a Methodist preacher (probably a lay preacher as
I've never found an ordination record for him), and felt "called" to preach
further west. I haven't been able to find him after 1870....period.
Now the only records I've been able to locate on Elijah's ancestry is that
he was a son of William Martin Castleberry and Jenny Fox. Elijah's
brother...William Jefferson Castleberry .... also named a son Elijah
Franklin Castleberry.
Now is Franklin a family name that has seen other generations prior to 1819
or is it just serendipity that "Franklin" shows up in these two separate
family lines.
Thanks for the help. I'm descended from the daughter of Elijah Franklin
Castleberry and Jemima Darnall Lancaster. Her name was Emily Katherine
"Kate" Castleberry and she was born Jun 1870. She married into the Joiner
family of Trigg Co., KY and I have a picture of her if anyone is interested.

I'm sending this to the list because I know some Bradley Co, AR
cousins
are subscribed and may be able to help here.
Is this the James F. Castleberry that moved to Bradley *after* the CW?
