The below site has the documents needed for Cherokee enrollment (be sure
to read all links):
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cherokee/index.html
Also, I checked my copy of the "Dawes Rolls" and found no one with the
surname CASTLEBERRY listed. According to the previous information that
I sent you, these are freedmen living in Cherokee territory. Do you
have some other information or another direct lineage?
My lineage is from John Castleberry, SR. also. But, from his son,
James Castleberry
Jesse Castleberry
Joel L. Castleberry
William Franklin Castleberry
Leroy Trussell Castleberry
William Berlin Castleberry (my father)
Hope some of this information helps.

Dear Jo,
Here is some more information that I have that may show a connection to
the Cherokee line, because it stems from Pocahontas and John Rolf:
William B. Chapman, son of
Harry A. Chapman, son of
Susan Ellen Castleberry, daughter of
Rev. Simon Castleberry, son of
Jessie Castleberry, son of
Jermiah Castleberry, son of
John Castleberry, who was the father of Abigail Castleberry (second wife
of Allen Gay)
Allen Gay is listed on "The Gamp Tree" April-May-June 1972, on page 22
(of my paper work)
Any help that you can give me on this matter is deeply appreciated.
Your Cousin,
Bill

The Fred Castleberry that I am looking for was married to Ida Castleberry,
and they had children: Lula Castleberry and Theotia Castleberry.
I am looking for the names of Fred Castleberry parents and any Cherokee
information pertaining to the Castleberry's marrying into the tribe.
Lula and Theotia show up on the Cherokee Indian rolls.
