On 5 July 1867, Elias Castleberry took a loyalty oath to the U.S. in the
1188 Election Precinct of Decatur County, GA. This was to qualify as a voter
after the Civil War. He was # 124. His brother-in-law, J. E. Thursby was # 125 on
the same day.
Elias and his family are found living near his wife's parents and Thursby
siblings in the 1870 census for Decatur County, GA. His brother Milton
Castleberry is living in the same part of the county. I would suspect that their
parents, William and Lovecy Castleberry are deceased by this time. Hope this helps.

Descendant of Elias through his daughter Samantha Luvicy Castleberry Miller.
