JONES COUNTY
[prefacing information]
"Jones County was formed in 1807, and Clinton made
the County Seat. Recently a fine new Court House has
been built at Grays, on the railroad and two miles from
old Clinton. Here the records of the county are all in
safe quarters and in a fairly good condition. In the office
of the Ordinary there are four Will Books, before 1850,
and several old books of Minutes of the Inferior Court
that contain much interest to middle Georgia families.
Book "A" of Marriage Licenses begins 1812, and has an
index, and also those that follow it.
In the Clerk's office all deeds are in good condition and
well indexed."
First Book of Wills, 1810 to 1828.
