Reference is made to the posted message of June 19, 2002, concerning
Castleberrys living or not living at one time in Forsyth County,
Georgia. There were definitely Castleberrys living in Forsyth County,
Georgia during the mid to late 1800's. There are 52 Castleberry people
buried in 11 different cemeteries located in Forsyth County. At the
present time, there are some Castleberrys living in Forsyth County that
are descendants to some of these 52 people. Some of these same 52
Castleberrys were descendants of William Castleberry, son of Hendrick
Casselberry/Castleberry. In the Forsyth adjoining counties of Hall,
Dawson and Lumpkin there were Castleberry people during the same time
frame. My great, great, great, great grandfather, Elisha Castleberry
[01/23/1792-4/19/1850] moved his family from Hancock County, Georgia to
Lumpkin County, Georgia right after the gold strike of [circa] 1830. He
and his wife, Jane [Fields] Castleberry [10/20/1797-06/30/1872], had ten
children [5 sons and 5 daughters]. Most if not all of Elisha's sons
remained in and around Lumpkin County area during their lifetime.
I thought that I would bring this matter to the attention of those
interested.
