"AMERICUS -- Wallace William 'Bill' Castleberry, 60, of 380 Brady Road,
Americus, died Friday, November 18, 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital [Albany, GA].
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev.
William Hall and the Rev. Jim English will officiate, with burial to follow in Oak Grove
Cemetery.
The following are asked to serve as active pallbearers: Logan Felts, Lamar Potts, Billy
Cooper, Tony Cox, Gil Pittman, Billy Ray Tissue, Larry Trussell, and Ronnie Nelson.
Mr. Castleberry was born November 8, 1945, son of the late Kenneth Wardlow Castleberry,
Sr. and Maude Hammond Castleberry of Sumter County. He retired from Piggly Wiggly grocery
after 25 years as the meat market manager and from Wal-Mart as the meat market manager for
five years. He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam era where he received the
National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service
Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Lynn Castleberry of Americus; two daughters and
son-in-law, Jennifer Gregory of Americus, and Donna and Jason Stokes of Bellevue, NE; two
sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Gregory Castleberry, and Keith and Heather Castleberry,
all of Americus; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and George Grantham of Albany;
five brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Jerri Castleberry, Bobby and Martha
Castleberry, Kenneth W., Jr. and Sallie Castleberry, Sammy Castleberry, and Huck and
Barbara Castleberry, all of Americus; three grandchildren, Justin and Haley Stokes of
Bellevue, NC, Keith Castleberry, Jr. of Americus, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Calvary Baptist Church, P.O.
Box 301, Leslie, GA 31764, or to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, Inc., P.O. Box
