Albuquerque Journal - March 11, 1998
Johnny E. Castleberry, 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Tuesday, March 10,
1998. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Norma Jean of the family home; sons, James
G. Castleberry and companion, Karen Crain of Albuquerque, John Charles and wife, Linda of
Beaverton, OR, William Keith and wife, Jaymerose of Albuquerque; brother, Jim Castleberry
of DeKalb, MS; sister, Maxine Moehle and husband, Hank of Palm Dale, CA; numerous cousins;
one niece; one nephew; one uncle; and one aunt. Mr. Castleberry was born June 22, 1931 in
Marvell, AR. He attended schools in West Helena, AR. Mr. Castleberry served in the US Air
Force overseas from 1951-1954. He retired from Civil Service as a photographer from DNA
and Chief of Duplicating Center at KAFB. Mr. Castleberry coached the KAFB baseball team in
the 50's and 60's and he was active in coaching Little League and Babe Ruth. He
was active in Senior Softball for the past ten years. Services will be held Thursday, 9:30
a.m., at F!
rench Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor John R.
Torrison of Tijeras Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place at 12:00 noon at
Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene DeWall, Royce Lackey, Bill Russell,
Bobby Yeary, Hank Moehle, and Antonio Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers will be Albuquerque
65'ers Senior Softball Team. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial
contributions may be made to c/o Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice Inpatient Unit, Presbyterian
