Do you have a name or any information on the "brother" that went south? I
have a very illusive Castle line.

You are absolutely correct Joyce. Let me share a little tidbit about the
Castle family. My great-great grandfather was Edward Herrick Castle born
in Amenia, Duchess Co. NY in 1811. He was a very adventureous fellow
living everywhere from Carbondale Pa and passing away in 1894 in Chicago,
Ill. He wrote his autobiography which is in the Newberry Libaray in
Chicago up on the special collections 3rd floor. The name of the book is
"The Life and Times of Edward Herrick Castle. Edward is the son of
William, who is the son of Gideon Castle the American Rev. veteran.
Edward tells in his book how his great grandfather came to this country
with two brothers. One went north to Mass with him and one went south. I
have done a lot of work on this line and feel that his recorded history is
not absolutely correct. My original ancestors may have come into this
country as 3 brothers but his generations are not accurate because, beyond
my Rev War Vet, I can go back another 3 generatio!
ns. Some of his autobiography comes from stories which were passed down
through the generations and may be factual but the time frame is not
accurate.
