I do not have a Levi Castles in my database in the age range you are looking
for; however, I do have information on most Castles in Pickens County, AL,
before 1860. They moved to Pickens County from Lancaster County, SC. It
makes me think their may be a link. I would like to compare data.

I have been following the Levi Castle/Olive Bronson discussion with
interest. My ancestor is not of that line, but dead-ends in Alabama,
"Levie" Castle
and Charity Swain were married in Wilcox County, Alabama on August 12,
1824.
Levie died before 1842 in Pickens County, Alabama. Family lore says he was
born in South Carolina. Charity appears to have a brother, James, who
signed as a witness to an earmark registration.
Levie and Charity had at least three children, John Levi, Thomas and Martha
(Patsy) who all moved to Wood County, Texas. John changed the spelling of
his last name to Cassel (family lore says to avoid his mother and stepfather
Montgomery Gause). I have found a deed to John and Thomas for 40 acres in
Alabama from their mother showing the Castle spelling
I have census records for the three children in Texas with John appearing
under both names. John married Amanda Malvina Taylor, daughter of Wiley O.
Taylor (another dead-end) and Adeline ElIzabeth London and had 8 children.
Martha married William Clayton Corbitt and had 10 children. Thomas married
Catherine (found on a census) but I have no further information.
If anyone has any information that might help me further, I would certainly
appreciate it.
