Hi Joanne and Jane: The children I have for Asahel and Deborah agree with your's
except they had a daughter Deborah born about 1757, so I am not sure if she and Timothy
were twins or one was born abt 1758.
I am wondering if there was another son between Eri and Levi Bronson, and perhaps this
child was born in Bennington, Vermont about 1780. This is just a guess, but I am wondering
if Levi and Olive are the parents of Roswell. I know they were in Bennington at that time.
I know that Olive didn't divorce Levi until after March 21, 1796. I also know that
Joel (Levi's brother) lived in Orwell from 1800 to about 1809 which is the next town
to Castleton and that is why Roswell was in Castleton in 1802. According to the 1800
census there is a male in the household that would be Roswell's approximate age.
I also know that Levi, Joel, Asahel, John and Isaac were in Arlington, Bennington County
from about 1764 to well after the Rev. War. Between Windham County, VT and Bennington
County there were several Castle families who settled in the Grants.
So far I have not been able to get copies of St. James Church records, but it sure would
be interesting to see which Castle families attended the church.
Unfortunately getting early records out of Vermont is very difficult. Many of the old
records were lost in Bennington County because of the Rev. War, and in Castleton there was
a flood in the mid 1800s that destroyed many of the records. I have been in touch with
Bennington Museum staff and another very kind gentleman who did quite a bit of research
for me, but so far no luck. It seems I take one step forward and three steps back in my
quest for Roswell. If I can add to your information please feel free to e-mail me.
