Hello list,
I am trying to trace my CASTLE & WESCOTT families. Many years back someone
sent me a card with inf. on it from Lockport, NY. There was something in
the Historical Society with a note of "an unusual coincidence occurred in
the 1830's. Mrs. PATCH who lived with her family on the Coleman road sent
her eldest son next door to call on the new neighbors named WESTCOTT. She
recalled that when a very small child her older sister had married a man by
that name, but she had never heard from her since that time. When her son
returned he told his mother that the new neighbor looks just like her. Mrs.
Patch went immediately to see Mrs. Westcott and discovered that she was her
long-lost sister."
My ancestor Amaziah WESCOAT/WESCOTT/WESTCOTT married a Polly/Mary CASTLE and
they lived in Lockport in 1830 for a short time.
I am not coming up with any one named PATCH in Niagara Co. for 1830 census.
My Amaziah and Polly WESCOTT are in it though. There is a PATCH in Ontario
Co. for 1830 census and Amaziah lived there also in the early 1800's and I
believe his wife Mary may have come from that area also. There were CASTLE
families around that area about the time Amaziah married Mary.
I am just grasping at anything that might have a clue.
Thank you.
