We would like to connect with family of Mr. "Jim" Castle, who served in WWII and
was the CIC Chief in Sapporo, Japan, Troop No. 9, Division No. 77.
During the WWII occupation of Sapporo, Lt. Col Jim Castle was responsible for war crimes,
but found no evidence on Gen’l Higuchi and then treated him kindly. Lt. Gen'l
Kiichiro Higuchi was a Japanese army officer whose actions helped save the lives of over
20,000 refugees who were fleeing from the Nazi Holocaust.
Kiichiro Higuchi kept a diary, which is now with one of his grandchildren. Kiichiro
recorded positive comments on Lt. Col Jim Castle and how Castle treated him.
Lieutenant General Higuchi's only living son-in-law, Mr. Yoshikata Hashimoto, would
like to thank Colonel Jim Castle or his wife, if they (or perhaps other family members)
can be located.
I hope you can help us find Colonel or Mrs. Castle or, perhaps, a descendant so that Mr.
Hashimoto can provide them with a message of gratitude.
Thank you, in advance, for whatever assistance you can provide.
