Bonnie, I have basically the same info that you have. I descend from Jacob Sr.; Jacob
Jr,; Zedekiah Alan; Silburn Henderson; John Steven; then his daughter Elizabeth who
married Amos Lowe on 26 August 1877 in Johnson Co. KY. They are my great grand parents.
My info indicates that Sowegee "Gliding Swan" was anglicanized and baptised
somewhere in PA. I have never been able to find the name of the church.
Jacob Jr.'s wife's maiden name might have been Dushane and that she was supposedly
a full blooded Cheroke Indian. Neither fact has not been documented as far as I know. I
don't think they were very many Shawnee Indians living in the area of southern
Virginia at that time. The Shawnees lived mostly in western Pa, and central Ohio. The
Kispoko tribe was the warrior clan, and most of their villages were in the western part of
PA and central part of Ohio. In fact, I live in Circleville, Ohio, near the Scioto River
and there was a large Kispoko tribe west of the river from Circleville. There were two
other Shawnee villiages just south of Circleville, and another large village near where
Chillicothe is now situated. The villages just south of Circleville were mostly farming
villages.
