You are absolutely correct Joyce. Let me share a little tidbit about the Castle family. My great-great grandfather was Edward Herrick Castle born in Amenia, Duchess Co. NY in 1811. He was a very adventureous fellow living everywhere from Carbondale Pa and passing away in 1894 in Chicago, Ill. He wrote his autobiography which is in the Newberry Libaray in Chicago up on the special collections 3rd floor. The name of the book is "The Life and Times of Edward Herrick Castle. Edward is the son of William, who is the son of Gideon Castle the American Rev. veteran. Edward tells in his book how his great grandfather came to this country with two brothers. One went north to Mass with him and one went south. I have done a lot of work on this line and feel that his recorded history is not absolutely correct. My original ancestors may have come into this country as 3 brothers but his generations are not accurate because, beyond my Rev War Vet, I can go back another 3 generatio!
ns. Some of his autobiography comes from stories which were passed down through the generations and may be factual but the time frame is not accurate.

Joyce, you mentioned that you have been researching the Castle family from Litchfield, CT. Did you mean the town of Litchfield or Litchfield County? My husband (& his ancestors) were from Litchfield & the surrounding towns. Claudia Castle

The first thing I suggest is your post needs to be more specific. Genealogy is like journalism in a sense, who, what, when, where and why. There are many people who read the posts but without specifics delete them. I have been watching this thread and noticed no one has replied for the reasons I mentioned above. When a post is vaguely written it appears that the person isn't willing to do the research themselves, never give that impression. Jump in there and offer what you know.
>From the family lore I have heard, the group you may be looking for may be found in Virginia and other southern states. I suggest you go thru the archives because, I have seen many posts from researchers looking for that line. I would also search the various state sites, they are a wealth of information, as well as census records. When posting a query give names, dates if you have them, if not give a time frame, what you are looking for, etc, where you believe they resided etc. There are a lot of seasoned researches out there who read these posts and are willing to help when you post a query correctly.
If this group of Castle's is like some of the northern family they are an elusive group. I have been researching the Castle family from Litchfield, CT and finally found the connection I need to Roswell after 5 long years. Good luck with your search and never give up. The information is out there someplace. It may be in a Bible or in a dusty box in some attic, but if you dig deep enough you will probably find it.
