to steuben co. New York. In 1836 he moved to fayette co. Indiana. In 1840
he was in Blackford Co. Indiana and farmed until 1890. He is buried in
Elizabeth town Cemetery. He had 4 boys and 4 girls. I only have two of the
childrens names...smith and lydia jane.....if this sounds somewhat familiar
plea!

I would like to learn more...I have access to more of the obituary's....my

Thank goodness for great grandmothers who were pack rats!!! I do hope that
you will post every little obituary and anything else pertaining to these
people.
I am very interested as my g gm was listed in the 1850 Census with the
surname of Castline----we are still trying to figure out who her father was
but we do believe Caroline and her siblings may have been daughter of
Catherine, possibly Phillips but we're again not sure about the maiden name.
We have verbal family history that says that Caroline was somehow related to
Smiths and we also know that she had a very close relationship with Nancy
Phillips VanMeter Daniels who moved from IA to Beloit, Mitchell Co., KS.
Nancy's Phillips' parents and siblings had been in IN before IA. There might
possibly be a connection so I'll be looking forward to your posts about these
Casterline siblings etc.!
