Hello, Christal!
I hope that you will treasure all your great grandmother's 'being a pack rat'
things, especially those about Casterline and other families as difficult!!
I will post two John Casterline families from 1850 Indiana, Blackford Co., Licking Twp (I
could not remember or find where I had seen these in any index, so I may not have)
1850 Fed Census IN, Blackford Co., Licking Twp pg 19
14 87 87 CASTERLINE, John 42 m Carpenter 200

13 103 103 CASTERLINE, John 45 m Farmer 800 New Jersey

16 CASTERLINE,James 14m York
17 CASTERLINE,Edward 12m Indiana
18 CASTERLINE,Alvy 10m Indiana
19 CASTERLINE,Mahittable 8f Indiana

I don't know if this helps you any but thought it might, since I had not ever seen
this particular information before.
When I went back to 1840 Fed Census same area, there were John and Ira Casterline living
among Strout, Wixon, Beckfield and Saxon families. I had to assume that the John
Casterline with many children in 1850 was the one that had been there in 1840, although I
did not check the children's ages.
Any thoughts anyone?
I am still trying to identify potential CASTERLINE father or mother of CASTLINE children
found living in PHILLIPS household in Iowa, Lucas Co. in 1850 Fed Cen. PHILLIPS parents
and children had lived in IN, Blackford Co., in late 1830s-mid 1840s, I believe.
