Christopher, I think you and I are related somehow. I am a Casterlin too. My grandfather
Edward Mason Casterlin I dropped the "e" off the name and no one is around now
to ask why.
Anyway, my Casterline's come from Luzerne County as well. I have found no connection
to Francis Casterline that every other Casterline line seems to come from. My gg
grandfather was Joseph Casterline born in New Jersey, but was in Buck, Luzerne, PA as
early as 1850 with documentation, but probably earlier than that I just don't have
firm proof.
Have you found out any more about your Casterline roots? If so I would love to hear about
it. I have a feeling that some of the Casterline's came from NJ and settled in that
area. I was told that all the records for New Jersey from about 1800-1830 I believe were
burn up in a fire so all that is left is the church records and family history. I am
going to Luzerne PA at the end of this summer. I still have most of my family back in
Easton and Bethlehem area, but I will be looking for clues too while I'm there. Maybe
I can find some answers for you too. Unless you've already found out. Have a good
night.
