I just got back from my first class of the semester. My professor is Dutch
& knows of Krefeld (she pronounced in KRAY-feld) & said that way back there
really were no borders. When I mentioned that our name comes from the
person who takes care of the church property, she said "the [k(short round
o)stuh]. That's a Dutch word" to which I replied "K-U-umlaut- S-T-E-R"
with
which she agreed.
