Hi Ferne
I'm dying to know more about SAMUEL CASTEEL's death by Indians. Don't
leaving me hanging I have to know who, what, where, when, how ???? :-) I'm
stilling trying to place all of Joseph Casteel. Sr., children. Of couse my
interest is JANE CASTEEL, who I'm pretty sure married SAMUEL STRONG. I have
John Casteel and Joseph Casteel, Jr. apparently moving to Barren County
(Monroe Co), KY abt. 1808-1812. Then abt. 1812 my SAMUEL STRONG moved to
Barren Co., KY and buys 80 acres from John Casteel in March of 1812. Then in
July of 1812 John Casteel makes the marriage bond between JENNY CASTEEL and
SAMUEL STRONG. I am assuming that this JENNY CASTEEL is actually, John
Casteel's sister, the dau. of Joseph Casteel, Sr. and Margaret. Samuel
Strong's sons, William, Scott, and Thomas Strong appear in the Camden Co., MO
Census of 1850. They disappeared from Barren/Monroe Co., Ky after 1844. Listed
is a JANE STRONG 65 yrs old born in VA, the head of the household. It's been
alleged that this is Samuel Strong's widow, Jane "Jenny" Casteel. In
1860's I
find CASTEEL's there also.
Samuel Strong's remaining son, Joseph Strong stayed on the Monroe Co.,
Ky/Jackson (now Clay Co), TN Line. Jospeh Casteel, Jr. moved there also.
Several of Joseph Casteel, Jr and Joseph Strong's descendants married each
other in this area.
Any theories?
Take care
Dave
