Hi
Well here is what I have on William Casteel and Lucy Dingus. Please verify
all this info. as I cannot swear as to how accurate it is.
According to the WILL of Joseph Casteel, Sr., he and his wife, Margaret
Casteel, of Russell County, VA. had the following children:
1. JANE CASTEEL possibly married SAMUEL STRONG of Russell County, VA in
Barren County, KY in 1812.
2. JOSEPH CASTEEL, JR. possible moved to Barren County (Monroe Co.), KY
between 1814-1820. Then to Jackson County (Clay County), TN.
3. SAMUEL CASTEEL, b. abt. 1775 in VA. Believed to have married Agness Fields.
Agness was possibly born abt. 1792-1795 and the dau. of William and Sarah
Fields. However thier son William Casteel reported his mother was married to
Joseph Casteel, not Samuel Casteel. Samuel Casteel possibly died prior to 1815
in Scott Co., VA. A Land Deed is reported to exist that states "Agness
Casteel, the widow of Samuel Casteel" sold land to someone in Scott County,
VA. Note: I haven't seen this deed. Agness Casteel was said to have married a
JAMES GILLUM who moved to KY. Aggy later returned to VA.
Alleged children:
i Obediah Casteel b. 11-2-1809 in Russell Co., VA. He married Melinda
Fletcher.
ii WILLIAM CASTEEL b. abt. 1815 in VA. On January 5, 1832 he married LUCY
DINGUS in VA. She was the dau. of Phillip Dingus and Nancy McConnell.
Children:
a. Phillip Casteel b. 1832 in VA
b. Aggy Casteel b. 1834 in VA
c. Samuel Casteel b. 1836 in VA
d. George Casteel b. 1838 in VA
e. William Casteel b. 1856 in VA
f. Susan Casteel b. 1849 in VA
Note: No Sarah Jane Casteel listed for their children from the above 1850
Scott Co., VA Census.
Note: A third son, JOHN CASTEEL, has been reported as the son of Joseph
Casteel and Margaret Casteel of Russell County (SCOTT), VA.
Hope this helps
