Hi Anita,
Thinking about the recommendations from Leslie on how to connect James
Monroe Casteel to Abednego Casteel...
I dug this up from my box of notes....
I did find several references to Abednego Casteel in Knox co court
minute BookII 1820/1822. I think the LDS film is #0024722. It was years
ago - I was looking for James Monroe Casteel but made quick notes of
others I found. I actually only took vague notes which I'll share with
you now.
From the index of Knox county Court min. Book II 1820-1822 I found 18
references to Abednego Casteel. All were accounts were of him serving as
a juror. One case in particular on Fri. July 6th, 1821, had Isaac Bond
as the defendant.
You remember - Isaac bond was the Bondsman on James & Susannahs wedding
bond! Now there's an "hanging-out together" link! :)
Another note I had was:
Nov. 1821 Elijah Casteel summoned as jurer along w/Isaac Bond.
This Elijah is most likely the son of Francis Casteel, who I also found
as a juror in the 1795-1799 knox co. record books (pgs 184 & 431).
Actually, it would be worthwhile to check that film out again and look
at it with new, more seasoned, eyes for details.
